Distribution volunteers use their own pickups or vans to pick up donations from local stores and bring them to the warehouse, lifting up to 35 pounds. Sorters stand while working up to four-hour shifts at the thrift shop.
School of Piano Technology for the Blind seeks student mentors to help first-year students transition from their home states to the Vancouver area. Students are blind, independent, 21 or older, and want to learn about the Pacific Northwest.
Veterans Affairs is looking for help with patient activities and recreation therapy, which could include bingo, games, movies and outings from the Vancouver campus, socializing with patients who have no local visitors, or driving a shuttle.
• Walk & Knock seeks volunteers to support the Clark County Food Bank. The goal for 2014 is to raise over 150 tons of food.
Fold bags, 8 a.m. to mid-afternoon Saturday at the Clark County Food Bank, 6502 N.E. 47th Ave., Vancouver. Families and middle- and high-school-aged youth groups are encouraged to participate.
Drive or pick up food door-to-door on Dec. 6. Volunteers meet at designated areas at 8:30 a.m. and are asked to be available until 2:30 p.m.
Donate a bag of non-perishable food or personal hygiene items. Leave it on your doorstep by 9 a.m. Dec. 6, or deliver to a Les Schwab Tire Center during normal business hours.
