Two Pop Warner football teams from Clark County have reached the second round of the Northwest regional playoffs, which are scheduled for Nov. 22 in Spokane.
In the Pee Wee Division for ages 9-12, the East County Jets won by forfeit over a Spokane team in the first playoff round and will play the Salinas (Calif.) Cardinals in a Division 2 game. The winner earns trip to the Pop Warner Super Bowl tournament near Orlando, Fla.
In a Division 3 Pee Wee game, the East Vancouver Venom beat a Salem Celtics team 25-14 on Sunday at Doc Harris Stadium in Camas. The Venom will play the Post Falls Bengals. Division 3 teams do not advance to Florida.
In the Mitey Mite Division for ages 7-9, the East County Jets will play the Spokane Mustangs. Mitey Mite teams do not advance beyond regionals.
Recreation soccer teams advance to state
Youth soccer teams from around Southwest Washington have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Washington Youth Soccer Recreational Cup, which is the state tournament for recreation-level teams.
The Region 5 playoffs concluded over the weekend. The state quarterfinals are scheduled to be played on Dec. 6.
Most of the teams from Region 5, which covers Clark County and other parts of southwest Washington, will be traveling to play in the quarterfinals. Several area teams will host quarterfinal games.

Powerlifters head to Vegas
Six students from the Washington State School for the Blind will compete on Wednesday at the World Association of Benchers and Deadlifters World Championships in Las Vegas.
Nathaniel Baker, Tanner Deck, Alexann Tureman, Erica Humphreys, Ella Donaghey, and Shana Newton will compete in junior divisions at the meet.
The Washington State School for the Blind powerlifting team is coached by Steve Lowry, Jeannette Isaacson and Judy Koch-Smith.
Struggles continue for prep hockey team
Team North — the team in the Winterhawks Varsity Hockey League with players from Clark County — lost 4-3 to South Portland on Sunday at the Winterhawks Skating Center in Beaverton.
Trey Sorensen from Evergreen High School and Justin Pfister of Columbia River scored goals. Matt Jeffs (Skyview), Alex Stoneham (Union), Jeff Anderson (Union) and Quinton Hallquist (Vancouver online) had assists.
Team North (1-6) next plays at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 23 at the Winterhawks Skating Center.
