Washougal students’ essays earn them spots on Honor Band

Washougal — Six middle school students in Washougal were picked to play in the Clark County Honor Band next year after writing essays that shared their passion for music. The students will rehearse with Metropolitan Youth Symphony Concert Band Director Dan Ogren and perform with the honor band in February. The students chosen from Jemtegaard Middle School are: Clara Harris, seventh grade, clarinet; Emily Johnson, eighth grade, trumpet; and Ian Palmer, eighth grade, percussion. Those picked from Canyon Creek Middle School are: Audrey Hinchliff, eighth grade, clarinet; Kyle Hendrickson, seventh grade, trombone; and William Weihl, seventh grade, percussion.
