The state Board of Education will meet at Educational Service District 112 on Thursday and Friday to discuss the K-12 system’s transition to career- and college-ready standards and impacts on high school graduation requirements. Eighth-graders who will graduate in 2019 are the first class impacted by many of these changes.
The public meetings will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday in the Clark and Pacific Rooms, 2500 N.E. 65th Ave. Public comment begins at noon Thursday and 11:45 a.m. Friday.
The board also will review a study on indicators of educational system health, the progress of schools and districts under state-required action improvement plans, student performance in the Transition Bilingual Instructional Program and the board’s 2015 legislative priorities.
