Two Orchards-area schools went into modified lockdown Thursday afternoon after a burglary occurred nearby. Two suspects are still outstanding and one may have left behind some clothing.

Around noon, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office got a call about a possible burglary in progress in the 13100 block of Northeast 76th Street. When deputies arrived, they found three suspects inside the house who took off, said Sgt. Fred Neiman.

Deputies caught one of them, 25-year-old Joshua Hayes. The homeless man had a couple of warrants out for his arrest and was booked into jail on suspicion of first-degree burglary, according to Neiman.

Police canvassed the area in search of the remaining two suspects and sent a police dog to track them. The dog found a pair of sweatpants and a jacket that’s believed to belong to one of the suspects.

Meanwhile, Heritage High School and Sifton Elementary School were put into a modified lockdown until about 1:20 p.m., according to Evergreen Public Schools.

Police believe they know who the suspects are and will continue searching for them. Neiman described them as homeless men in their mid-20s.
