Fishing report 11/06

Salmon fishing continues to be focused on the three tributaries with strong runs of late coho — the Cowlitz, Lewis and Klickitat rivers.

The Cowlitz River is flowing at 10,000 cubic feet per second at Mayfield Dam. That’s a fishable flow, but much higher and the water gets gnarly.

The North Fork of the Lewis on Wednesday was at 5,640 cubic feet per second, which is only about 20 percent higher than normal.

The Klickitat was flowing steady at 1,100 cubic feet per second. Normal for the date is 780 cfs.

Swift Reservoir remains open through Nov. 30. The reservoir is 13 feet below full pool, so launching will not be a problem. No current report of fishing success is available.
