Esther Short — The Riverview Community Bank Soup’s On! fundraiser raised a record-breaking $65,543 for Share last month. More than 600 people attended the Oct. 11 event, which pitted six local chefs against each other in a soup-making competition that was judged by diners. For the third year in a row, the attendees voted Hilton Vancouver Washington Chef Troy Lucio as the winner. Lucio won the “Soup-er Chef Award” for his Tuscan Chowder with White Truffle Panzanella dish. The money raised will go to Share’s efforts to provide aid to the hungry and homeless. At the event, Share presented the Emily Marshall Volunteer of the Year award to Jan and Dave Franzen for their help with the charity’s Backpack and Summer Meals programs.
