The 16th annual concert of church music aimed at raising money for local winter-weather homeless services is set for 7 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church, 8701 N.E. 119th St.
The two-hour concert will feature praise teams from St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Salmon Creek Methodist Church and Walnut Grove Church. Visitors — West Linn Community Chorus and Seton Catholic Concert Choir — will take part this year. The main sponsor is Salmon Creek Kiwanis Club.
There’s no admission charge, but a goodwill offering will be taken. All proceeds will support Winter Hospitality Overflow, a cooperative effort between the Council for the Homeless, Share, and many local churches and volunteers to provide additional space for homeless people from November to March, when emergency shelters are at their fullest and the weather is at its worst.
St. Andrew and St. Paul Lutheran churches provide the floor space. Last year, more than 1,700 volunteers and 52 faith communities helped with the effort, which sheltered 642 men, women and children.
