This is hardly breaking news, but a Greater St. Helens League runner won the 3A girls race Saturday at the Westside Classic cross country meet in Tacoma.

Prairie’s Michaela Bruns breezed to a 14-second win to win the bi-district race at American Lake Golf Course in Tacoma in 19 minutes, 16 seconds.

The Falcons won with 66 points, 25 points better than second-place Central Kitsap. Columbia River (126 points) was fourth to earn a state-meet berth.

In the boys race, Columbia River’s Austen Blankenship was edged out at the finish line by Christian Rotter of Auburn Mountainview. Rotter finished in 16:13.16, followed by Blankenship at 16:13.95.
