Non-league football: Battle Ground 56, Prairie 19

There were tricks on the part of the Prairie Falcons on Friday night, although the Battle Ground Tigers were the ones that ended with the sweetest treat of all.

Prairie started off with a flea flicker for a 51 yard gain, scoring on the subsequent play to take a 7-0 early lead over the rival Tigers.

However, their lead would last all of 10 seconds, when Chris Waters returned the kickoff 87 yards to tie the game. Battle Ground would go on to score the next 42 points of the game, en route to the victory.

Sophomore quarterback Gunner Talkington started the game 1 for 4, but completed 14 of his next 16 passes to lead the Tigers to the win. His 15 completions found five different receivers for a total of six touchdowns and 304 yards.

Parker Randle caught his first two passes for scores an added another in the final quarter. Chris Waters had two receiving touchdowns along with his kickoff return.

Sophomore Curtis Stradley led the team on the ground with 110 yards on 18 carries and found the end zone once.

The defense was also instrumental, as they held Prairie to 210 total yards, 123 of which came on two separate plays from the Falcon offense.

As time expired, Jordan Marti diced his way 72 yards for the score.
