Volcanoes edge Seattle to end losing skid

The Vancouver Volcanoes ended a three-game losing streak by holding off the Seattle Flight 131-128 in International Basketball League action Saturday at the O’Connell Center.

Andre Murray scored 30 points on 11 of 16 shooting and had 13 assists for the Volcanoes (6-3).

Murray was one of six Volcanoes players in double figures and one of three with a double-double.

Brian Morris had 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Josh Tarver had 14 points and 13 assists. Cory Largent scored 21 points, and Calvin Hampton and Adam Herman had 13 points each.

“It was all about our defense,” Volcanoes coach Joe Navarro said in a release. “We played about the best eight minutes we have as a team at the end of the second quarter and got the lead up to about 16, I was really complimentary to the guys at halftime about our defensive effort.”

Seattle’s Marcellus Kemp led all scorers with 39 points.
