A 9-month-old boy nearly drowned in Ridgefield on Sunday afternoon but was likely saved by the quick action of his father, according to Clark County Fire & Rescue.
The boy, Hank Duncan, was transported to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy said.
The child’s family was at one of the houseboats near the marina in Ridgefield when he fell into Lake River at about 3:40 p.m., Dawdy said. When his family pulled him out of the water, he was blue and not breathing.
The boy’s father, Wes Duncan of Shelton, performed CPR on the child before paramedics arrived, Dawdy said. He was later assisted by his father’s girlfriend, who is a registered nurse. Paramedics then arrived and gave the boy oxygen until the ambulance got there, Duncan said.
