A two-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 5 in Vancouver sent three people to local hospitals Friday night, according to Washington State Patrol.
Ridgefield resident Jonathan Harmon, 21, was driving a 1979 Mazda two-door south in the right lane of the freeway just after 9:15 p.m. Friday when he approached traffic that was stopped for an Interstate 5 Bridge lift. Harmon quickly veered from the right lane to the left lane and lost control, striking a 2013 Nissan Rogue driven by 41-year-old Jason Phillips of Vancouver, according to WSP. Phillips had already stopped for the bridge lift.
Harmon and his passenger, 19-year-old Taryn Kubicek of Ridgefield, were both injured and taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, according to WSP. Harmon was released from the hospital the next morning; Kubicek remained in intensive care Saturday evening.
Phillips was taken to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, police said. He was not listed in a patient directory Saturday evening.
The crash remains under investigation, police said.
