A key founder of Open House Ministries, Joanne Kendall, will be honored June 3 as Clark College’s Outstanding Alumni Award for 2014.
Today’s 107-bed family shelter grew from a 10-bed startup that Kendall and her late husband, Bob, began in 1986. Joanne Kendall is still a member of the Open House board.
A 1964 graduate of Clark College, she was named a “Woman of Achievement” in 1993 and shared the Clark County First Citizen award with Bob Kendall in 1994. According to the Clark College Foundation, she is the source of charitable gifts and scholarships for the school and for students looking to complete their GED degrees.
Joanne Kendall will be honored at the 10th annual Clark College Alumni-Student Dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Gaiser Hall Student Center, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way. Tickets are $25. Register online or contact Krista Longfellow, klongfellow@clark.edu or 360-992-2789.
