Battle Ground — Drill teams from Battle Ground High School and Prairie High School returned home from Florida victorious after the National High School Drill Championships this month.
The competition in Daytona Beach wrapped up May 5. Battle Ground High’s AFJROTC Unarmed Drill Team placed fifth in the Exhibition Drill competition in the Master’s Level. For the fifth year in a row, Battle Ground’s AFJROTC program also won the Distinguished Unit Award, according to a press release.
Prairie High’s Armed Drill team, competing in the Challenge Level, placed fourth. The armed team also placed fourth in the Color Guard competition and fifth in Exhibition. Prairie High Cadet Andrew Friason placed second in Armed Individual Regulation.
