Two singles players and two doubles teams from Clark County qualified for the 4A girls state tennis tournament by reaching the semifinals of the bi-district tournament on Friday at Olympia.
Defending state champion Sammi Hampton of Skyview cruised into the semifinals with a pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins, while Camas’ Esther Kwon also posted straight set victories to advance.
Hampton, a junior, will face Auburn senior Lauren Thomquist in today’s semifinal. The two met in the state quarterfinals last year with Hampton winning 6-2, 6-0.
Kwon, a junior, will play sophomore Megan Hagerty of Graham-Kapowsin, who placed seventh in state last year.
Camas’ Jen Lewis and Hannah Gianan, and Union’s Jelena Vidovic and Sydney Wallace moved into the bi-district doubles semifinals and booked a place at state as well.
Skyview’s team of Olivia Coale and Darby Tinker lost their first-round match, but came from a set down to win in consolation play to stay alive. They need two more wins today to qualify for state.
