A 17-year-old driver is accused of taking a vehicle without permission after, police say, she caused a two-car collision Thursday evening in the Vancouver Lake area that sent seven people to the hospital and closed the intersection for about 45 minutes.

The Vancouver teen, whose name was not released by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, was referred to juvenile court and also cited for driving without a license.

Traffic investigators are still piecing together details of the crash reported just after 7 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Northwest Lakeshore Avenue and 78th Street.

According to the sheriff’s office, the Honda Civic driven by the teen was heading west on 78th Street too fast and couldn’t make the right-hand turn to head north onto Lakeshore. The Honda hit the driver’s side of a Toyota RAV4 that was southbound on Lakeshore at the intersection. The impact pushed the Toyota RAV4 off the road and into blackberry bushes.

The Vancouver girl and her three teenage passengers were sent to a local hospital, as were three people in the Toyota RAV4.
