A fire started by smoldering smoking materials damaged a garage Thursday afternoon in Salmon Creek, fire officials said.
The fire, at 13109 N.E. Sixth Court, was reported around 12:15 p.m. A neighbor spotted smoke coming out of the garage and told the homeowner, who opened the garage to find a fire, said Fire District 6 spokeswoman Sarah Mitchelson.
Firefighters with District 6 were able to put out the fire in about 10 minutes, Mitchelson said. The fire was contained to the garage.
According to the Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire was sparked by smoking materials smoldering on a chair in the garage.
