National award

WESTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY

Emily Willeman, from Vancouver, was one of five top winners in PRWeek’s National Student of the Year contest, a competition open to public relations students. Willeman is a journalism/public relations major and was the only student from the West Coast named in the top five finalists. Awards were handed out March 20 at the Grand Hyatt in New York City.

Brianne Irons and Tatum Schroeder, both of Camas, were named to the fall 2013 dean’s list.

SPOKANE FALLS COMMUNITY COLLEGE, SPOKANE

Nicole Langeland and Laurie Welch, both of Vancouver, were named to the winter 2014 honor roll.

Scholarships

BIA BUILDING FUTURES FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The Building Futures Foundation awarded five students with academic scholarships at the Building Industry Association of Clark County’s membership meeting last month.

These students, all from Vancouver, were honored: Joshua Amundson, Portland State University; Sara Ashback, Montana State University; Donovan Cordova, Skyview High School with plans to attend the University of Washington; Peter Miller, Washington State University Vancouver; and Kevin Robertson, Clark College.

All are pursuing an education in the building, engineering or construction trades.
