Camas, King’s Way in lacrosse quarterfinals

The Camas lacrosse team defeated Gonzaga Prep 10-3 in Saturday to advance to the quarterfinal round of the state tournament.

Camas will play at 1 p.m. May 24 at Vashon High School for a spot in the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association Division II semifinals. Division II includes the smaller schools and newer programs in the state.

King’s Way will host a quarterfinal match at 7 p.m. on May 24 against Klahowya. King’s Way had a first-round bye because it won the regular-season division tittle.

Chad Menor scored four goals for Camas and fielded five ground balls in the win over the visitors from Spokane in Saturday’s playoff game at Cardon Field. Bradley Stanchfield had three goals, two assists and fielded four ground balls.

Austin Garwood scored a goal and had three assists and a team-high nine ground balls fielded. Matt Welinski had a goal and two assists.

Will Young collected seven ground balls for Camas and Cassius Johnson and Brennan Dyehouse each fielded three ground balls.

All-conference lacrosse teams — Players from Clark County dominated the all-conference team for the Central-South Conference.

Representing King’s Way Lacrosse on the all-conference team are seniors Evan Ramirez (La Center High School), Nathan Swift (Skyview) and Justin Held (Hockinson), and juniors Brian Prigmore (Hockinson), Brandon Pearl (Columbia River) and Conrad Littlefield (Columbia River).

Camas all-conference players are senior Chad Menor and juniors Austin Garwood and Will Young. Union all-conference selections are juniors Trey Chambers and Jack Lamey.
