Prep roundup: Camas golfers qualify for state tournament

Camas’ Brett Ball placed fifth on Monday in the 4A bi-district boys golf tournament at Gold Mountain Golf Course in Bremerton to qualify for the state tournament.

Qualifying for the 4A girls state tournament from Camas were Maddie Miller, Molly Bilsbrough and Connie Wang. Skyla Stifter made birdie on an extra hole to claim the alternate spot to state.

No other results from the bi-district tournament were reported to The Columbian.

Girls tennis

Camas’ Esther Kwon defeated Union’s Tess Belindean on Monday at Vancouver Tennis Center for the second seed to the 4A bi-district tournament, which starts Friday at Tumwater.

Jelena Vidovic and Sydney Wallace of Union won the second-place doubles match, defeating Olivia Coale and Darby Tinker of Skyview.

The top three singles and doubles from district move on to bi-district at Capitol City Court Club.

These local players will join district singles champ Sammi Hampton of Skyview and doubles champs Jen Lewis and Hannah Gianan of Camas at bi-district.

The top seven players from bi-district advance to the 4A state tournament at Richland on May 30. Hampton is the two-time defending 4A state singles champion.
