The race for the 49th Legislative District grew by two candidates Thursday, including the six-term incumbent. Another incumbent filed in the 17th Legislative District.

Six-term Rep. Jim Moeller, D-Vancouver, and Republican Lisa Ross filed to run for Position 2 in the 49th Legislative District, a district consisting primarily of the west side of Vancouver. They join Carolyn Crain, a Republican who filed Monday. This election mark Crain’s second consecutive attempt to unseat Moeller. Ross, a certified public accountant, is making her first bid at elective office.

First-term legislator Monica Stonier, D-Vancouver, filed paperwork to run for the 17th District House on Wednesday, but her information wasn’t processed by Clark County until after The Columbian’s deadline. She’ll face former Clark County GOP chairwoman Lynda Wilson, who filed to run Monday. The 17th District covers a swath of land extending from Vancouver north to Battle Ground.

Filing week concludes today. Currently, there are 54 candidates running for 31 elective offices.

More information, including a complete list of candidates and approximately when they filed, can be found on the election office’s website: http://clarkvotes.or..
