The Battle Ground City Council will pay tribute to young military service members at its Monday night meeting.

“These young adults are taking a big step in their lives,” Mayor Shane Bowman said in a press release. “It is important that their community is behind them in this endeavor.”

The occasion will mark the second time in the past two years that the councilors have hosted Military Appreciation Night. The event falls in the middle of National Military Appreciation Month, which Congress designated in 1999 to remember the sacrifices of U.S. service members throughout the decades.

The public meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Battle Ground City Hall, 109 S.W. First St.
