State Rep. Harris draws two challengers at filing week’s midpoint

Five more candidates filed with the Clark County Auditor for elective office Wednesday, bringing the total to 51 candidates seeking 31 elected offices.

Two new candidates are in Vancouver’s 17th Legislative District, where Richard McCluskey filed as a Democrat and Chris Rockhold filed as a Libertarian for a seat held by Rep. Paul Harris, R-Vancouver, who has also filed.

Independent Ed Owens filed for Clark County sheriff. He had previously announced his plans to do so.

In the 20th Legislative District, which stretches from Thurston County south into the northern portion of Clark County, Republican John Morgan of Rochester filed for a seat held by Rep. Ed Orcutt, R-Kalama. Orcutt has filed for re-election.

In the 14th Legislative District, which includes a small portion of Clark County, as well as the Columbia River Gorge and part of Yakima County, Paul George of Yakima filed as a Democrat for a seat being vacated by Rep. Charles Ross, R-Naches, who is running for Yakima County auditor.

Filings week concludes Friday.
