Advocates and community members will gather from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Husum Fire Hall, 110 Main St. in Husum, to discuss White Salmon River conservation efforts.

The meeting will focus on a long-term vision, goals and habitat conservation on the lower river, according to the Mid-Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group, one of the sponsors.

Also sponsoring the gathering is the White Salmon River Watershed Management Committee.

Organizers want input from landowners, residents, recreational users, businesses and others on a fish habitat conservation strategy for the river.

The lower White Salmon River has undergone dramatic change since the nearly century-old hydroelectric Condit Dam was breached in 2011, then dismantled and removed in 2012.
