Published: May 9, 2014, 5:00pm

Clark County will celebrate the 15th year of its drug court from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 22 at Esther Short Park, located at Esther and West Eighth streets in Vancouver.

The celebration coincides with National Drug Court Month.

The Clark County Drug Court allows defendants to avoid jail time if they agree to follow a therapeutic program and stay clean.

The program has 142 defendants enrolled and has graduated 477 people since it began in 1999, said Brad Finegood, Clark County’s therapeutic courts coordinator.

The county now has a total of six therapeutic courts, including mental health and veterans courts.

All are based on the same model as drug court, Finegood said.

Anyone interested in helping out with the May 22 event may call 360-397-2497 or email erin.welch@clark.wa.gov.
