Coffee Villa is hosting a bone marrow registration drive.

For thousands of people with life-threatening diseases, a bone morrow transplant from an unrelated donor is their best of only hope for a cure. The drive is to increase the number of donors in the registry bank.

The registry event is from noon to 3 p.m. Monday, May 12 at Coffee Villa, 13011 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd. Suite 106.

Marrow registration only requires a cheek swab. The information will be added to the Be the Match morrow registry. Those who register will only be contacted in they’re a match for someone in need.

Coffee Villa and Vancouver resident Denise Smith are hosting the local drive — with help from Be the Match — in honor of Smith’s 19-year-old nephew who was diagnosed with leukemia in January. There is currently no donor match for him in the Be the Match registry.

Volunteer ambassadors from Be the Match will be available to answer questions. For more information about Be the Match, visit www.bethematch.org.
