Volunteers are currently being sought to participate in Dozer Days, which gives kids an opportunity to operate heavy construction equipment and participate in excavation activities.

Dozer Days will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18, at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Ridgefield. Previously, the event was held at Fisher Quarry near Camas.

Volunteer shifts for ages 14 and older are Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. or noon to 5 p.m., and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 1 to 5 p.m. Duties include operating equipment (experienced, professional operators only), working with equipment operators to help children on and off the machinery, monitoring lines, and assisting with check-in and ticket taking.

Volunteers receive free admission to the event, as well as snacks and beverages.

During Dozer Days, kids get to operate dump trucks, bulldozers and excavators. Other highlights include music, food, giveaways, and family activities.

Organized by the Nutter Foundation, it has grown to include more than 20,000 attendees and raise more than $100,000 for local children’s charities.

For more information or to volunteer, visit www.dozerday.org, or contact Gary Bock at gary@swca.org or 694-7922.
