Jarrad Krueger of Vancouver won the top singles division during the Pacific Northwest regional handball championships. Krueger defeated Josh Bateman in the A singles final during the tournament played Friday through Sunday at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland.
Krueger beat follow Vancouver resident Jordan Taylor in the semifinal round, then won the title match.
Taylor finished fourth.
In the semifinal match, Taylor won the first game and Krueger the second before he outscored Taylor 11-3 in the tiebreaker. Krueger is Taylor’s handball coach.
Taylor said he was disappointed that he did not play to his potential after winning the first game of the semifinal. Taylor won his first two matches in tiebreakers. He lost the third-place match to Chris Cardinal.
Taylor plans to next compete at a July tournament in Ireland, and will participate in the junior nationals later in the summer.
