Kurt Cobain memorial park benches up for auction

Two benches that became an unofficial memorial to Kurt Cobain after the grunge rock singer killed himself 20 years ago are up for sale.

The benches sat in a Seattle park near Cobain’s home and were covered with messages from fans that were written or carved on the wooden slats.

KXRO reports the slats on the Viretta Park benches were replaced with new wood in 2008, but the old slats were saved from the landfill.

Now, the old marked-up slats are fixed to new frames, and the Cobain memorial benches are for sale at a Tacoma auction house, Hamilton’s Antique & Estate Auctions.
