A free presentation in Vancouver next week will offer an up-close look at some of the region’s largest trees.

Certified arborist and tree risk assessor Brian French, a founding member of advocacy group Ascending the Giants, will showcase his work with those trees both in uninhabited areas of the state and closer to home.

The presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the city’s Water Resources Education Center, 4600 S.E. Columbia Way in Vancouver.

The presentation will end with a screening of the adventure documentary “Treeverse.” The film details a journey through an old-growth forest by French and fellow Ascending the Giants founder Will Koomjian.

The event is being hosted by the Master Gardener Foundation of Clark County and the city’s Urban Forestry program. It’s also a part of TreeTalk, a series of free educational workshops offered by the city.
