The weather through the remainder of the week and weekend will be partly to mostly cloudy with a chance of rain. Weak high pressure will be over us, but it won’t be strong enough to stop all of clouds and moisture. Wednesday is looking like the best day this week. So, damp at times but nothing really heavy at this point.
March went out like a lamb, I would say, with mild temperatures and mostly sunny skies. It will go down as a wet month, with more than seven inches of rain in most places. The official reading at Pearson Field was the lowest amount I could find Monday, with only 6.22 inches. Just across the river at Portland International Airport, the rain tally is about one inch higher. Seattle had recorded 9.44 inches as of Monday.I would expect a wide variance of rainfall reports from our local observers around the county for March due to the many showery conditions we had. You know the hit-and-miss pattern of springtime.Looking ahead toward spring break next week, we may luck out as several weather models are indicating a warm ridge of high pressure. If so, we could see sunny and warm weather with highs in the 60s and maybe 70 degrees. So stay tuned, and we will see how that develops.The Stillaguamish River has dropped two feet behind the Oso mudslide, with the rains easing off and the river digging a new channel. However, as an unsettled weather pattern with increasing rains settles in up there later in the week, stream flows will pick back up and the pool level will rise.
