Firefighters in Battle Ground stopped a garage fire before it could spread to the rest of the house, according to Clark County Fire & Rescue.

The fire was reported about 7 p.m. Saturday at 1705 N.W. Fourth Ave. in Battle Ground.

Units arriving at the scene saw smoke coming from the eaves and fire in the garage.

CCF&R Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy said crews quickly cut through a garage door to gain access and extinguished the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Crews from Clark County Fire & Rescue, Fire District 3 and the Vancouver Fire Department responded.

The house is owned by John Davidson, according to county property records.
