Clark County Public Health and its advisory board are hosting a community conversation on preventing and mitigating adverse childhood experiences.
Children who experience abuse, neglect, abandonment, exposure to alcoholism, a family member in jail or other traumatic events may face multiple health and social problems over the course of their lifetimes. More than 60 percent of Washington adults report one or more adverse childhood experiences.
The Public Health Advisory Council has made prevention and mitigation of adverse childhood experiences, often called ACES, its top priority for 2014.
The public presentation and discussion is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 10 at Vancouver Community Library, Columbia Room, 901 C St. Refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m.
Erinn Havig, an ACES expert with the Washington State Department of Early Learning, will discuss ACES and answer audience questions.
