The family of a Vancouver woman who’s been missing for three weeks is continuing local search efforts.
Daphne Alexander-Christ, 46, left her home around noon on Friday, March 7, telling her daughter Savannah, 13, that she was going to see a friend. She didn’t specify which friend.
The next day, when Alexander-Christ didn’t answer her phone, a missing-person report was filed. Then, on Sunday, deputies with the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office found her black Suzuki Forena in the parking lot of Beacon Rock State Park with a ticket on it because it had been left overnight.
After combing the area Sunday and Monday, investigators with Skamania and Clark counties suspended the search.
“The land was searched really well in a variety of ways and we don’t think she’s there,” said Alexander-Christ’s 18-year-old son, Keaton Alexander.
He said they haven’t gotten any new leads about where his mother could have gone, and there are no more organized searches going on in the park. So family and friends have started searching for her on their own and set up a Facebook page dedicated to the search: facebook.com/MissingDaphneAlexanderChrist.
This weekend, they aim to search the Columbia River by boat from Skamania and downstream toward the Interstate 5 bridge. Erik Hoovestol, a friend of hers, is having trouble finding willing boat owners to help with the search. Those interested are asked to contact him at 503-706-6557.
Alexander also set up an online fundraiser to help pay search and rescue professional Harry Oakes: youcaring.com/other/search-for-daphne-alexander-christ/155225. So far, he’s raised $1,845, which includes contributions from his professors at the University of Oregon in Eugene.
