Darcy Rourk has been hired as executive director of human resources for Vancouver Public Schools. Her annual salary is $130,622. She will begin her new position April 21, filling a vacancy created when Missy Hallead, former assistant superintendent of human resources, took a new job out of state. The board of directors approved her appointment at the March 25 school board meeting.

A Vancouver resident, Rourk has worked in human resources for 13 years. She currently is associate vice president for human resources at Clark College, a position she has held for the past four years.

She also is an adjunct instructor in the educational leadership program at Concordia University and at Clark College.

Previously, she was the personnel director for the Canby, Ore., School District and chief personnel officer/assistant superintendent for Northwest Regional Educational Service District in Portland. She also worked as a K-12 classroom teacher and university adjunct professor.

Rourk earned a doctorate of educational administration degree from Kansas State University.
