BATTLE GROUND — Clark County Fire & Rescue will do a live fire training exercise from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 10 at 801 E. Main St. in Battle Ground.

East Main Street between Southeast Grace and Clark avenues; and Northeast Grace Avenue between East Main Street and Northeast First Street wil be closed starting around 8:30 a.m. A detour will guide motorists around the closure.

The building, which previously housed Galeotti’s Restaurant, was purchased by the city for demolition as part of the Grace Avenue Improvement Project. The exercise will not only help Clark County Fire & Rescue meet their legal requirement to do live fire training, but will also reduce the building demolition cost. According to the city of Battle Ground, clean up after the fire will cost 25 percent of what a full demolition would cost.

For more information, contact the city’s public works director Scott Sawyer at 360-342-5075 or scott.sawyer@cityofbg.org.
