WASHOUGAL — A century after Washougal High School’s first commencement ceremony, the district is piecing together a snapshot of the school’s history with stories from alumni.
District officials and the Washougal Oldtimers are asking former students and employees to share their favorite memories of classmates, colleagues and the school to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the commencement this spring. Those stories will be featured in a booklet on the history of the school and the community. The district is handing out surveys for former students and employees to put their stories on paper. The forms, due by April 18, are available at the school, the Washougal School District office and at www.surveymonkey.com/s/BGNGB69. Plans are also in the works for a community celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. April 24 at the school. Organizers are planning an alumni slide show and decking out the school in yearbooks, uniforms, letterman’s jackets and other school memorabilia.
