A 26-year-old man pleaded guilty Wednesday to a charge related to an online relationship he had with a 10-year-old girl from Washougal.

In an agreement with prosecutors, Keven Carlson-Aguilar pleaded guilty in Clark County Superior Court to communicating with a minor for immoral purposes. In exchange, Senior Deputy Prosecutor Camara Banfield dropped a charge of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.

He is scheduled to be sentenced April 4. He faces one to three months in Clark County Jail. A conviction of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor would have meant a sentence of four to five years in prison, said Carlson-Aguilar’s attorney, Jeff Barrar.

Carlson-Aguilar lived in California when he met the girl in an online chat room in March 2009 and later started a relationship with the girl’s mother before moving into their Washougal home, according to a court affidavit by Washougal police Officer Zane Freschette.

Carlson-Aguilar and the girl gradually began communicating over a variety of instant-messaging services.

The girl said she and Carlson-Aguilar were “in love,” Freschette wrote. During the chats, he would describe sexual acts he planned to perform on her when they finally met in person, Freschette wrote. He also requested nude photos of her, but she said she never sent any, according to the officer.

He eventually began speaking with the girl’s mother, though the affidavit doesn’t explain how that happened.

The mother was aware of Carlson-Aguilar’s age, but she was not aware of the sexual nature of his conversations with her daughter, according to the affidavit.

“She felt as though Keven was serv

ing as a father figure,” Freschette wrote.

The girl told police that she ended her romantic relationship with him in October 2010. Meanwhile, her mother continued to communicate with him and developed romantic feelings for him, according to the affidavit. In February 2011, he moved to Washougal and rented a room in their residence until April 2011. The girl told police that she and Carlson-Aguilar never had sexual contact during that period.

The relationship between the mother and Carlson-Aguilar continued after he moved out of her residence. It’s unclear when the relationship between him and the mother turned sexual.

In January 2012, he admitted to her that he’s a pedophile who has never acted on his urges, according to the affidavit. She then asked him to stay away from her home.

He has been in the Clark County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail for 49 days, which will be subtracted from his jail sentence.
