BATTLE OF THE BOOKS COMPETITION
Washington School for the Deaf (WSD) Middle School 7th-grade students placed in the top four in a national Battle of the Books competition, with 30 schools participating. In May, three students, Jadzia Ingram, Cristian Martinez-White and Mai Truong, and their coach will fly to Washington, D.C., with all expenses paid, to compete in the national competition.
HOUSE PAGE PROGRAM
Nathaniel Nutter, a student at Vancouver iTech Preparatory High School, recently completed a one-week assignment as a page in the Washington State House of Representatives. Nutter was sponsored by state Rep. Jim Moeller and is the son of Deborah Nutter and Andrew Nutter of Vancouver.
STATE MUSIC COMPETITION
Students from Washougal High School were selected to participate in the WMEA/WIAA All-State Conference and Honor Groups in February in Yakima. Students submitted vocal and instrumental audition recording and competed against thousands of students from around the state for placement in the honor groups. The students who competed were: Sonja Adams, Allix Fisher, Austin Smith-Brown, Nick Stevens, Bret Wade, Zoe West and Mac Wright.
