ARIEL — Speelyai Bay boat ramp on Merwin Reservoir will be closed from Sunday through Thursday.

Tom Gauntt, a spokesman for Pacific Power, said high streamflows in the upper portions of the North Fork of the Lewis River necessitate the utility lowering Merwin Reservoir to make room for the incoming water.

Gauntt said Speelyai Bay ramp will be out of the water for a few days.

The North Fork of the Lewis River was running at 6,070 cubic feet per second on Friday night, compared to an average for the date of 889 cubic feet per second.

Swift Reservoir was 6 feet below full pool, Yale Reservoir was 9 feet below full pool and Merwin Reservoir was 12 feet below full pool.
