For those wishing to relive the glory days of the Los Angeles Lakers, go pick up a copy of the book “Showtime” by Jeff Pearlman.
For all you Blazers fans (and non-Lakers fans), relish this: The Lakers’ third consecutive defeat and sixth in eight games came Friday night, 134-126 to the Nuggets. It ensured the Lakers’ first losing season since going 34-48 in 2004-05.
Not only that, but when was the last time the Lakers gave up 266 points combined in back-to-back games? (They lost 142-94 on Thursday to the Clippers.)
Yes, shed a tear for L.A.

Somebody had to be second. In this case it was pitcher Brent Strom. And the case was Dr. Frank Jobe’s second ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction surgery — or as we know it now, Tommy John surgery.
The sports and baseball world was remembering Dr. Jobe after he passed away on Thursday at the age of 88.
Strom just did not have the post-surgery career that John did.
“It’s probably a good thing it’s called Tommy John surgery and not Brent Strom surgery,” Strom said Friday. “Tommy John wins 288 and I win 22.”

The Portland Winterhawks will remember Nathan MacKinnon as the kid from the Halifax Mooseheads who had a hat trick against them in the 2013 Memorial Cup final.
The rookie forward for the Colorado Avalanche is already showing more greatness in the NHL.
MacKinnon broke Wayne Gretzky’s record for consecutive games (13) with a point for an 18-year-old NHL player.
The soft-spoken teenager said it was “pretty cool.”
He suddenly chuckled, before adding, “It’s the only record (of Gretzky’s) that I’ll break.”
