It certainly didn’t take long once the heavy rains started midday Wednesday to fill my retaining pond in our subdivision. It also didn’t take long for a loud chorus of frogs to start their chanting. And, a pair of lucky ducks swiftly stopped by to test the waters.
One little chuckle: I walked my young granddaughter, Ocean, out to the retaining pond the other evening to listen to the frogs. I told her to watch me. I yelled out “QUIET,” and lo and behold, they all stopped. She was impressed. I hurried her back inside quickly before I lost my powers.
Ah, it must be spring. I know, I know, the calendar says spring is a couple of weeks away but we are definitely into the meteorological aspect of spring. With that comes more rain and showers in the forecast through the weekend. If we are lucky, we squeeze out one dry day.
Signs of spring are bursting out everywhere. Flowering cherry trees are showing a bright purple sheen of buds. I saw bunches of daffodils blooming and I know the grass is greening up and growing. I even saw a quick peek of a rainbow earlier in the week.
