The Port of Camas-Washougal said Wednesday it’s partnering with the city of Washougal and Portland State University to create a community vision for a plan to redevelop 40 acres of waterfront property for recreation, residential and commercial purposes.
The planning effort, led by a team of students from PSU’s Master of Urban and Regional Planning program, will focus on developing a vision for the waterfront that connects and complements Washougal’s downtown and “supports the creation of a local and regional identity for the city of Washougal,” the port said in a news release.
“Plans for the waterfront include a trail, which will be a natural as well as essential connection with downtown Washougal and all it has to offer,” port Executive Director David Ripp said. “The end result will be of great benefit to the port, the city and the community as a whole.”
