Clark CountyThe Clark County Sheriff’s Office is inviting the public to comment on the agency’s ability to comply with national law enforcement standards March 25.

Assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. are expected to arrive March 23 as part of the agency’s efforts to gain accreditation for the 28th consecutive year.

The process assesses the agency’s procedures, management, operations and support services and the sheriff’s office must comply with 385 standards to maintain accreditation, which lasts three years.

Residents are invited to comment at an information session at 4:30 p.m. March 25 in the commissioners’ hearing room on the sixth floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

Those who cannot make the meeting but who wish to leave comments can do so by calling 360-397-2417 and leaving a message between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. March 25. Telephone and in-person comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with the national standards.

Written comments can be mailed to The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Attn: Chief Deputy Brad Slater, 13575 Heathcoat Blvd. Suite 320, Gainesville, VA, 22030-2215. They can also be sent via email to www.calea.org.
