MEN’S BASKETBALL

Record: 26-2 overall, 16-0 NWAACC West Division.

NWAACC rank: Unanimous No. 1 final coaches poll.

NWAACC Tournament: Clark defeated Edmonds 74-65 for fifth place at the Toyota Center in Kennewick. The Penguins defeated Chemeketa 87-77, lost to Skagit Valley 75-73, and beat Bellevue 80-70. Clark sophomore/Columbia River grad Sean Price was named second team all-tournament.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Record: 15-1 overall, 25-4 NWAACC West Division.

NWAACC rank: No. 2 in final coaches poll.

NWAACC Tournament: Clark defeated Lower Columbia 79-69 for fifth place at the Toyota Center in Kennewick. The Penguins beat Clackamas 67-62, lost to Blue Mountain 74-72, and beat Walla Walla 64-56.

BASEBALL

Season opener: Clark split a doubleheader with Lower Columbia, winning 9-8 in 10 innings and losing 8-2. Zach Tyler had the go-ahead RBI single in the 10th in the victory, and Brayden Maney was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBI. Spencer Ramsey drove in both Clark runs in the second game, going 2 for 2.

Next games: Clark is at Yakima on Saturday and Sunday. The Penguins play Skagit Valley (11 a.m.) and Yakima Valley (5 p.m.) on Saturday, and the same opponents at 1 and 4 p.m. Sunday.

SOFTBALL

Season opener: Clark split a doubleheader with Centralia. The Penguins lost the first game 9-2, and then won the second game 5-4. Battle Ground grad Haley Hamilton was 6 for 8 with a double and RBI in the two games for Clark. The Penguins are scheduled for a tournament Friday-Sunday at Lacey.

TRACK AND FIELD

Season opener: Skyview grad Kevin Washington won the 100 at the Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker in McMinnville, Ore. Julian Avalos won the 800, and Eric Zechenelly won the 400 hurdles.

Next meet: Clark is scheduled to participate in the Oregon State Invitational on Saturday.
