Four employees at a Ridgefield cabinetry business were taken to an area hospital for evaluation of smoke inhalation injuries after a machine caught fire this morning.

A machine that coats wood with a water-based lacquer caught fire at Pacific Crest Custom Cabinetry, 5901 South 11th Street in Ridgefield about 6:20 a.m.

Employees extinguished the blaze using 13 fire extinguishers prior to firefighters arriving, according to Clark County Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Dawdy.

Medics treated four employees for smoke inhalation and transported them to an area hospital for evaluation, Dawdy said.

Firefighters checked for fire extension and ventilated the building.
