Local baseball players named all-state

Seven players from The Columbian’s readership area were named as first-team, all-state selections in their classifications.

Jack Bauer (catcher) and Cody Hawken (infielder) of Union and Hayden Humphrey (infielder) of Battle Ground made the first team in Class 4A.

Andrew Haley (first base) of Columbia River and Dakody Clemmer (pitcher) of Mountain View represent Clark County on the 3A first team.

Hunter Huddleston and Trevor Huddleston of Woodland made the Class A-B first team.

The all-state teams were announced Tuesday by the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association.

Blake Christopher (infielder) of Camas was second team for 4A, as was Curtis Perrin (infielder) of Skyview.

Seth Rayburn (pitcher) of Columbia River was second team for 3A.

Luke Heimlich of Puyallap was named the 4A player of the year. Andrew Summerville of Lakeside earned the 3A award. Junior Ledgard of Ellensburg was the top player in 2A. And Cam Walker of Naches Valley took the A-B honor.

Coaches of the year were: Marc Wiese of Puyallup; Dana Papasedero of Lakeside; Todd Gibson of Ellensburg; and Bill Walker of Naches Valley.
