No matter your opinion on the proposed oil terminal at the Port of Vancouver, we expect elected officials and candidates to clearly state their positions on critical issues such as this proposal. Voters deserve to make an informed choice between candidates who have fully disclosed their positions.
Rep. Sharon Wylie, D-Vancouver, of the 49th Legislative District has clearly stated her opposition to the terminal based on her concerns for the safety of the community and environment should an accident or spill occur and the potential loss of a valuable waterfront development that would be a long-term job creator for Clark County.
We need leaders in Olympia who make the effort to be educated on issues and then take a clear stand.
