Published: June 19, 2014, 5:00pm

Retention of hatchery-origin spring chinook salmon will be allowed beginning Saturday in the Kalama River.

Retention has been closed this year due to a weak return, but spawning needs at the hatchery have been met. The daily bag limit will be six hatchery chinook, but no more than two adults. Barbless hooks are required.

Open water is from boundary markers at the river mouth to 1,000 feet below the fishway at Kalama Falls Hatchery.
